**AAAA APRIL 2010 ACTIVITY REPORT**
SUMMARY
a. MASS MEDIA EDUCATION: HIV/AIDS Prevention Education has been continuous and on going with standard schedule aired on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 6pm and 6.30pm respectively.
AAAA website plus You Tube hits, and Face Book networks showed slight increases over past month.
b. CAPACITY BUILDING: Board Chair and ED attended Intra Health International 30th anniversary on global health in Chapel Hill , NC.
ED attended AHADI capacity Development training in Washington DC and Atlanta ,Ga
ED attended HIV/STD Prevention Project in SAC Bidders conference to explore potential of program.
AAAA Board of Directors held Board meetings to steer agency vision.
AAAA signed 2 volunteers from Duke University for a Holland funded project.
c. PARTNERSHIP: AAAA explored MOU with NC Recovery Support Services to implement HIV/STDS IN SAC.
Partnership with NC USCRI, Alliance of Aids Services-NC, Challenge for Christ Ministry etc are continuous.

d. OTHER GRANT GOALS
The month focused AAAA relocation to new office in Raleigh and set up. No enhanced HIV/AIDS public education events/booth exhibits were held plus Peer Outreach educators training sessions held.
CONCLUSION
With office reorganized, AAAA is now positioned to conduct business in pursuit of vision and mission. This also implies the fulfillment of scope of grant expectations to reach target population to reduce HIV/AIDS infection and health disparities.

World AIDS Day 2008
AAAA hosted World AIDS Day themed, “All Peoples All Races United in the Fight against AIDS” on December 6, 2008 at Ezra Conference Center, Raleigh from 1:30pm to 5pm. AAAA partnered with Shaw University, El Pueblo Hispanic Center, YWCA of Greater Triangle, African Cultural groups and OMHHD to present a multi-cultural HIV/AIDS education program free to general public.

AAAA at Cary Kwanzaa - 2007
The Cary Kwanzaa held by UJIMA GROUP at the Herbert Young Community Center on North Academy Street Saturday 29th December, "UJIMA " 4th Day of KWANZAA, drew a large audience to hear presentation by Mrs. Carine Siltz, AAAA Executive Director on AAAA's work in community and the need for African-American communities to lead the fight against AIDS. AAAA announced the National Women and Girls AIDS Day in March 2008 and collected 45 registrants for event. AAAA set a booth display, showed video of AAAA work, passed out condoms and HIV/AIDS related brochures. AAAA's PR, Mr. Vincent Payne, manned AAAA booth and addressed enquiries for public and media. Attendance was 750.
AAAA Flyers at Kwanzaa Fest Durham
The 100 MEN-IN-BLACK CHORUS performed for "NIA", the 6th day of Kwanzaa for "PURPOSE" in lives of family and community at Haiti Heritage Center. The African and African-American community must fight with a sense of "purpose" to defeat HIV/AIDS pandemic. AAAA Public Relations representative passed out AAAA brochures to attendants and announced the AAAA event for March 15 to mark National Women and Girls AIDS Awareness Day.

Mothers in the Fight against AIDS
As part of WORLD AIDS DAY events, AAAA organized a conference at Vital Links School, 1214 East Lenoir Street in Raleigh on December 8th, 2007. Conference started from 10AM to 4PM; Mrs. Florence Masese opened it with welcome statement, AAAA volunteer now Administrative Assistant. Pastor Ephraim Udofia, Vice Chairman of AAAA Board chaired the conference.
Mrs. Carine Silt, AAAA CEO, pitched AAAA mission and accomplishments since founding of agency particularly annual AAAA events like "Churches In The Fight Against AIDS", "Youth In The Fight Against AIDS", and the main event "Mothers In Fight Against AIDS". Mothers play a very important role in the lives of everybody and are on the frontline plus are agents in the fight against HIV/AIDS pandemic.
The conference received greetings from the office of the Mayor and City of Raleigh, Councilman and Mayor-Pro-Term, Mr. West spoke on behalf of Mayor Charles Meeker and pledged the City's assistance to AAAA in its outreach work to reduce the spread of HIV infection and AIDS. Mr. West was enthusiastic the conference was being held right in his constituency. Mr. George Hill of OMHHD listed the statistics that described health disparities in County and State as a motivational force for our belief in fighting not only HIV/AIDS but also all forms of health disparities in our community, state and nation.
Mrs. Joyce Chilongo, AAAA board member, used study group formations in her presentation dealing with "DEVELOPING MULTICULTURAL APPROACH TO COALITION BUILDING". Ms. Anita Isaac, AIDS advocate from Namibia, spoke of struggles with AIDS and the organization of Namibian women in securing services for movement. Dr. Fayth M. Parks of Georgia State University, keynote speaker, addressed the conference on "MOTHER-DAUGHTER COMMUNICATION SKILL TO REDUCE HIV/STD". Testimony by Mr. Rodney Squires and a
Presentation on HEALTHY NUTRITION by Pastor Yves spiced the program.
The day was also the occasion to recognize graduates of AAAA SISTA program and to receive SISTA certificates; ten trainees from October's classes were awarded certificates as outreach educators. Dr. Udofia thanked all participants on behalf of AAAA board of directors and special thanks went to official sponsors - OWH and OMHHD - of the conference. Special recognition went to Wal-Mart, SunCom Wireless, Golden Corral, Catholic Diocese of Raleigh (African Ancestry Ministry) and Mrs. Margaret Rose Murray, Proprietor of Vital Links School.
AAAA also had a special guest, Ms. Mireille Lusinense Zena, a faculty member at Kinshasa University, to represent AAAA orphanage at DRC. AAAA's supportive staff and volunteers for programs include Mrs. Pam Buthercinn, Mali Francois, Jamal Watkins, Vincent Payne, Louis Orji and Mrs. Vivian Kwaabia.

AAAA Outreach at Ellen Wright Shelter
Last December 1 was celebrated as World Aids Day. AAAA held HIV/AIDS prevention educational sessions at Ellen Wright Women Center on West Cabarrus Street as part of the fourth Annual MOTHERS IN FIGHT AGAINST AIDS. Women (40) residents attended special program to increase knowledge on personal health issues and HIV/AIDS to curb sexual risk behaviors leading to HIV infection. Mrs. Carine Siltz and Mrs. Vivian Kabia conducted the outreach program.

Free H.I.V. Testing
AAAA held in-house free HIV testing on October 27 from 10AM to 3PM. Free HIV testing was promoted on WSHA-FM radio.
Outreach Education
OUTREACH EDUCATION: AAAA participated in HEALTH EXTRAVAGANZA-2007 on October 27 in Durham to promote women health event that AAAA offer as SISTA TRAINING. AAAA DVD promotional kit, booth display and ED presentation on Youth Abstinence was instructive. AAAA brochure and HIV/AIDS literature passed out to public plus condom distribution. Target reaches 500 people.

World A.I.D.S Day Event
AAAA met representatives of Liberia First, an African immigrant target group with strong active base in Raleigh/Durham at OMHHD office on October 16. AAAA-Liberia First to network on World AIDS Day event themed "MOTHERS IN FIGHT AGAINST AIDS" on December 8th. AAAA offered free HIV testing & free cell phones sponsored by Suncom.
October 13th & 27th, 2007
Sista Training
AAAA conducted 2 training sessions on October 13 and 27th
Respectively. Out of 17 participants, 14 got certification. To date AAAA had 51 participants attend classes with 30 registrants fully certified as field trainers. AAAA exceeded 25 targets.
October 11th & 12th, 2007
Capacity Building
Staff training session conducted by Babanina James of ISS, Boston, Ma. on "HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT" added professionalism to agency's administrative performance. Total trained:6 staff.
* Third quarter board meeting on 19th October reviewed agency performance and plan future programs was timely. Board activism added new life to agency effectiveness.

AAAA produced and released 2 DVD electronic promotional kits;

Project Flow
AAAA outreach project in Africa's "HOT ZONE" and orphanages of Namibia, Southern Sudan and DRC.
